Library Procedures and Information

When will my child visit the library?

Grade levels visit the library with their English or Reading class. Each class comes in for a lesson where the teacher and librarian have collaborated once every 2 or 3 weeks. Students may come in to the library in the mornings before school, and teachers have library passes if students need to visit the library during the school day.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

How many books can my child check out?

All students are allowed up to 3 books at a time.

If there is a special project or assignment in class, students may be allowed to have an extra item.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When are books due?

Books are every two weeks.  If a student would like to continue reading a book, the book can be renewed.  Fines are not charged for overdue books, and students are not blocked from checking out if they have a late item. As long as they do not have over 3 items out, they may continue to check out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What happens if an item from the library is lost or damaged?

If a book is damaged or lost, a replacement fee will be assessed and a notice sent home with the student.  The lost/damaged item counts as one of the 3 maximum items until the replacement fee is paid for.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What programs are sponsored by the library?

The library sponsors a book club that meets every other Thursday at 8:10 in the library. There are also monthly challenges for students to participate in and have a chance to win prizes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How can parents get involved?

The library can always use volunteers! Parents are welcome to come volunteer in the library any day to help shelve books, make displays, decorate, and help pull books for upcoming projects.

If you have any questions, please email the librarian, Mrs. Harris!
